Awards

In September 2026 the doorway went in front of a jury. The CSS Design Awards has been judging the craft of websites since 2009. Six judges scored this one, the public voted alongside them, and it came home with four awards.

What was won

• Special KudosGiven by the judging panel. Six judges, and a final score of 7.54.
• Best UI DesignVoted by the public. Twenty votes out of twenty.
• Best UX DesignVoted by the public. Twenty votes out of twenty.
• Best InnovationVoted by the public. Twenty out of twenty, and the strongest score of the three.

The films

Each award arrives with a film of its own. Five and a half seconds, a certificate drawing itself, with sound. Nothing loads until you press play.

What the award is for

A word on what these are for. They are awards for the website. For the doorway, the waystation, the room behind every cover, and for the way the whole thing moves under your hands. The books are judged somewhere else, by readers, which is the only verdict that really counts.

The words, the pictures and the site itself are the work of one person. The judges who scored them are design leads and creative directors at studios in Europe, Asia and North America.
